Our commitment
PETMET has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, sexual trafficking of children, or conduct that otherwise sexually exploits or endangers a person under 18.
PETMET's initial account experience is restricted to adults aged 18 or older. That adult-only rule does not reduce PETMET's responsibility to prevent and respond to child sexual abuse or exploitation where a child appears in content, is discussed in messages, or may otherwise be at risk.
Prohibited conduct
Users must not use PETMET to create, upload, request, solicit, possess through the service, distribute, link to, promote, facilitate, normalise, threaten to distribute, or attempt to obtain content or activity involving the sexual abuse or exploitation of a child.
- child sexual abuse material;
- grooming or manipulating a child for sexual contact, sexual conversation, intimate imagery or exploitation;
- requesting, offering, trading, sharing or threatening to share sexual or intimate material involving a child;
- sextortion, blackmail or coercion involving real or alleged intimate material of a child;
- arranging or facilitating sexual contact with a child;
- sexual trafficking or commercial sexual exploitation of a child;
- directing users elsewhere to continue prohibited contact or exchange prohibited material;
- instructions, communities or encouragement that promote child sexual abuse or exploitation; or
- evasion of PETMET reporting, blocking, moderation or account restrictions connected with child safety.
A claimed relationship, consent, joke, artistic purpose, educational label or adult-only account status does not excuse conduct that sexually abuses, exploits or endangers a child.
How to report a child-safety concern
PETMET provides in-app safety reporting. Use the relevant Report or Safety Report action for the profile, content, listing, conversation or other activity involved.

Provide only the information reasonably needed to identify and assess the concern, such as a PETMET username, profile or conversation reference, approximate date/time and a description of what occurred.
Australian reporting routes
- Immediate danger: Triple Zero (000).
- Suspected online child sexual exploitation, grooming or inappropriate sexual contact involving a child: the Australian Federal Police-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE).
- Illegal or restricted online content: the eSafety Commissioner.
- Non-urgent police assistance: the appropriate local police channel, including 131 444 where available.
How PETMET responds
When PETMET receives a credible child-safety report or otherwise becomes aware of possible CSAE or CSAM, PETMET may take urgent and proportionate protective action, including:
- restricting access to reported content, conversations, features or accounts;
- preventing further contact between relevant accounts;
- preserving the minimum necessary identifiers, timestamps, account, message-location and moderation records in a restricted environment;
- avoiding unnecessary copying, downloading or internal circulation of suspected illegal material;
- escalating the matter to PETMET's authorised child-safety reviewer;
- removing or disabling access to prohibited content;
- suspending or terminating implicated accounts and taking steps against restriction evasion;
- making or supporting reports to an appropriate Australian authority when required by applicable law or reasonably necessary to protect a child;
- cooperating with valid lawful requests from regulators and law-enforcement agencies; and
- recording actions and external escalation references in a restricted safety log.
PETMET may take temporary protective action before a final account decision where delay could increase risk. An allegation is not automatically treated as proof for every final enforcement decision, and consequential decisions are subject to appropriate human review where that can occur without increasing risk to a child or compromising an investigation.
Enforcement
A breach may result in content removal, interaction restrictions, temporary suspension, permanent account termination, prevention of re-registration or restriction evasion, preservation of relevant records, and referral to an appropriate authority.
PETMET may act without advance notice where notice could expose a child to further harm, facilitate evidence destruction or evasion, or compromise an investigation. No review or appeal process requires PETMET to restore illegal material.
Privacy and evidence handling
Child-safety information is access-restricted. PETMET aims to use individual least-privilege staff access, retain only information reasonably necessary for safety/reporting/audit/dispute/applicable legal purposes, avoid unrelated profiling or advertising use, minimise suspected-illegal-material reproduction, and keep narrow safety/legal retention separate from ordinary account deletion.
PETMET does not ordinarily disclose a reporter's identity or confidential report details to a reported user unless disclosure is legally required or reasonably necessary for a fair process and can occur without unacceptable safety risk.
Product controls
- 18+ account eligibility and private date-of-birth collection;
- in-app user/content reporting and explicit child-safety reporting;
- blocking controls;
- human moderation and age-review processes;
- server-side access restrictions;
- restricted safety records and audited moderation actions; and
- account/content restrictions for serious safety breaches.
PETMET tests these controls before broad public release and continues to improve them as the service changes.
Review of these standards
PETMET reviews these standards when relevant Google Play or Australian online-safety requirements change, when PETMET materially changes messaging/community/discovery features, after a serious incident identifies a control gap, or before material expansion outside Australia.
